Sending Syrian refugees to their country is an electoral promise!
Hostility towards refugees has escalated in Turkey in recent years, with a number of politicians campaigning to impose stricter restrictions on refugees, which has contributed to an increase in feelings of hatred towards refugees, especially Syrians, as they constitute the largest percentage in the country.
The leader of the Turkish opposition Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, promised to send Syrian refugees to their country if his party took power in the country.
Kilashdaroglu said in a video that when he becomes president, he will solve the Syrian crisis and the Syrians’ problem within two years, and “I am determined and will do it.”
In his speech, he added, “Syrians are our relatives and they will be happy in the land in which they were born, so we will return them to their country in peace,” noting that there are 3,600,000 Syrian refugees in Turkey, according to official statistics.
He pointed out that he witnessed the density of Syrians, especially in the cities near the Syrian border, where the number of Syrians in those cities “has exceeded the number of Turkish citizens,” explaining that “citizens can no longer cover their expenses and have become unemployed because of the Syrians.”
