Ozdag Retracts A New Lie He Spread Against The Syrians

The racist “Zafer Party” leader Umit Ozdag has retracted a new lie he had been telling against Syrian refugees in the Turkish state of Konya.

Umit Ozdag claimed in a tweet he posted on his personal account on Twitter that three Syrian youths severely beat a Turkish citizen, after which he was taken to a hospital in Konya, southwestern Turkey.

In his tweet, in which he accused the Syrians of beating a Turkish citizen, attacking refugees in Turkey: “Asylum seekers and fugitives blackmail, stab and kill Turkish citizens. Fatih Buyuk Zianak was blackmailed and fatally beaten by 3 Syrians in Konya on July 31, he returned from certain death, continue to hide these facts from the people, because you are the real enemies of the Turks.”

“He accused the Syrians out of fear of his family.”

Ozdag published a new tweet on his personal account, in which he denied the claim he made about Syrians assaulting a Turkish citizen, after it was proven that the young Turkish man had been beaten by Turkish citizens due to a dispute between them regarding the payment of a debt.

In his tweet, he said that the battered Turkish citizen lied about being beaten by the Syrians to hide the issue of debt from his family: “This person was beaten by the Turks because of the debt repayment issue, and he said that it was the Syrians who attacked him to hide the matter from his family. But when the issue was brought to the public, things got bigger, so he panicked and told the truth. Shame, shame, we understood that you were beaten, so be honest and don’t lie.”

The Zafar Party is a Turkish political party with an extreme right-wing ideology led by Umit Ozdag, which has been waging a stinging attack against Syrian refugees and foreigners residing in Turkey for several months, demanding their expulsion and the restoration of Ankara’s relations with Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
