A child Becomes a Victim of Incitement Campaigns against Immigrants
On the twelfth of June, news spread on social media regarding the killing of a fifteen-year-old Turkish child named Salah al-Din Celik by Afghan immigrants in the Ataşehir district of Istanbul.
The head of the Zafar Party, Umit Ozdag, spread the news and incitement against immigrants in the region, accusing the Afghans of being the ones who killed the child Salah al-Din. The result of this incitement was that a number of teenagers surrounded the places where Afghan youths live, assaulting them, and burning their homes.
The news that was issued by the office of the governor of Ataşehir district was different from what was reported by the head of the Al-Zafar party, as the statement issued by the office of the district governor stated that five Turkish citizens, including the child Salah al-Din Çelik, attacked two Afghan immigrants who work in collecting paper in the region, and a fight broke out among them. . While the victim, Salah al-Din, was on the run, a car hit him and he was killed, and it was not the Afghan immigrants who killed him.
A number of activists considered the child Salah al-Din Çelik a victim of incitement campaigns led by Umit Ozdag against the refugees, who are subjected to harassment, attacks and sometimes killing without justification.
