Beaten and Death Threats.. Turkish Youths Attack a Syrian Family
A Syrian family residing in the Organ Pasha neighborhood in the Turkish region of Antakya was subjected to racist attacks, death threats and the burning of their house.
Activist Taha Al-Ghazi indicated on his Facebook account today that a Syrian family was subjected to racist attacks and threats of death and the burning of their house, adding that he had contacted the head of the family (S, M), who spoke about the facts of the incident, saying:
“Last Tuesday, with the early evening hours, a Turkish youth assaulted my 7-year-old child. I left the house after my son cried and asked the aggressor, why did you hit the child? The perpetrator entered his house and came out carrying a shovel and attacked me deliberately by hitting me in the head, and I put my hand to protect myself, which resulted in a fracture in my left forearm.”
He added that the assailant returned to attack them in the middle of the night with a pistol in his hand, so he informed the security authorities, and the next morning, a number of relatives and friends of the assailant gathered in front of the house all day long and said, “S.M.”
“With the time of sunset and during my absence from the house, a number of them attacked my family, and their goal was to burn the house and set it on fire.”
He pointed out that the assailants threatened to kill him after he wrote a criminal record about the incident at the police station.
The racist attacks against Syrians in Turkey have increased recently with the intensification of the policy of incitement and hatred carried out by the Turkish opposition parties and the attempt of some of them to achieve political gains by using the refugee card to try to win the upcoming elections and make promises to expel the refugees, all of this led to many Heinous racist attacks against refugees.
