Enemy of refugees in Turkey faces trial

His deputy exposes him.. Umit Ozdag steals millions and officials in his party defected

A new scandal afflicts the Turkish Zefar party, which is hostile to Syrian refugees, and its head, Umit Ozdag, after one of the party’s former deputies and founders defected, revealing the embezzlement of funds and corruption in millions of liras.

The Turkish newspaper, Yeni Aqd, said that Ozdag is accused of embezzling funds that did not enter the party’s official accounts, but went into the pockets of party members close to him, according to what the former deputy in the party for the state of “Eskişehir”, Soner Çam revealed.

The newspaper stated that Cham was beaten for revealing the corruption of Umit Ozdag, which prompted him to reveal documents showing Umit embezzlement of money and threatening him with the information he possesses.
Sooner Cham and Jiten Dafarge, dissidents within the party, were beaten by extremists on September 25, according to the newspaper.

Referring to the attack, Cham said in a press release in Eskişehir that some of the donations made by party volunteers were transferred to individuals, not to Zefar’s party, noting that he was targeted when he exposed the issue.

Cham posted the corruption documents supporting his allegations on his social media account, adding, “Your time is up! I am posting the receipt of the money you received to Zefar’s party in your personal account, which you didn’t register with the party! Do whatever you want against me, I won’t let you rob the Turkish nation.”
It is noteworthy that Umit Ozdag, founder of the Zefer Party, is one of the most prominent Turkish politicians hostile to the presence of Syrian refugees in Turkey.
About a month ago, Ozdag made controversial allegations about the Syrians, claiming that their number in Turkey exceeded nine million, and that they own luxurious “five-star” homes in separate areas in the Turkish states at a time when the country prevents any Syrian refugee from owning.
