Former Greek Minister: The killing of refugees on our borders is an organized policy and is carried out with the flag of the European Union
Videos and documents showed that refugees on the border with Greece were subjected to horrific violations, amounting to murder, while revealing the “recruitment” of refugees at a Greek border guard center; To pursue and attack other refugees.
In a new episode of the “What is Hidden is Greater” program on Al-Jazeera satellite channel, Friday, October 28, 2022, Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu said, “Greece deliberately killed refugees and stripped them so that they would freeze in the cold.”
While the program presented the details of Greek officers forcing a Syrian refugee to join an army of masked men in exchange for agreeing to cross its lands, it also showed leaked photos of other refugees who had been recruited into the masked army.
According to Al-Jazeera, the mission of this “masked army” is to pursue refugees and force them to return to Turkey.
While a former Greek minister said, in an interview during the program: “The murders of refugees on our borders are an organized policy, and they are carried out with the flag of the European Union.”
Documenting violations of Greece
A report issued by an EU body revealed that employees of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) were involved in the cover-up of illegal forced deportations of migrants from Greece to Turkey.
The 120-page European Anti-Fraud Office report was published on Thursday, October 13, on the German Freedom of Information platform FragDenStaat and the German websites Der Spiegel and Lighthouse Reports, according to the US Associated Press.
The report found that senior managers of Frontex committed “serious misconduct and other irregularities” by covering up the incidents of forced deportation of migrants, and by failing to properly report or deal with those facts. But the published report did not mention any names.
“In doing so, they impeded Frontex’s ability to fully assume its responsibilities, including ensuring the protection and promotion of fundamental rights,” the report explained.
Frontex coordinates search-and-rescue and border-intercept operations on behalf of the 27 member states of the European Union. The forcible deportation of migrants violates both international and EU laws, and is defined as forcing citizens to cross international borders without assessing their right to seek asylum or other protections.
