Including women and children.. Bulgarian police arrest 50 Syrian refugees
The number of Syrian refugees leaving Turkey towards Europe has increased
Bulgarian press reports said that the police arrested 50 Syrian refugees, including women and children, on the main road between the cities of Malko Tarnovo and Burgaz, after they crossed the border with Turkey.
According to the sources, the refugees sought medical help, as some of them were injured during the long journey across the border from Turkey to Bulgaria. It did not indicate the number of women and children.
The sources added that they were taken by bus to another place, noting that the migrants will be taken to the border police headquarters in Malko Tarnovo, where an interpreter will be assigned to them before being questioned and searched.
And last week, the Bulgarian authorities announced the arrest of 37 illegal immigrants, the vast majority of them from Syria, in the capital, Sofia.
The Bulgarian police carried out a series of raids in the capital after a bus carrying migrants and carrying a Turkish plate collided with a police car, on August 25, near the northeastern city of Burgas, near the border with Turkey, killing two policemen.
The authorities stated that the 37 immigrants are all from Syria, including one Moroccan immigrant, adding that the 15-year-old bus driver is Syrian, but he does not have any documents or a driver’s license.
It is worth noting that Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demirciev said last week that his country had declared war on immigrants, refugees and illegal immigration.
