Racist statement by CHP member Orhan Sümer ”Turkish students started to be a minority in schools”
Orhan Somer, a deputy from the CHP party in Adana, who is known for his racist policy against foreigners and refugees, made statements about the refugee problem. Pointing out that Syrians cannot keep up with society, Orhan said, “Turkish students are starting to become a minority in schools in our border cities.“
Orhan Sümer said, “Students in our schools have a great integration problem. Syrian students cannot keep up with the society. Turkish students have started to become a minority, especially in the schools of our border cities.“
Orhan Sommer said, “Although foreign nationals have received our citizens negatively after the wrong asylum policy, the advantages that the government has given them have become very disturbing. When our citizens, who are going through a difficult economic period, see help and support go and offer to foreigners .Anxiety increases dramatically. We are now witnessing unwanted events in Adana between citizens and Syrians. The government should take urgent measures especially in our provinces where foreign nationals are concentrated.”
These racist statements stir up feelings of hatred and lead to increased hostility against refugees. Especially in the Turkish city of Adana, which received a large number of refugees fleeing the war and seeking stability.
These statements are not the first of their kind, as they are a reflection of the policy of the CHP party, which follows a hostile policy against refugees.
