Syrians Accused of Stealing Geese From a Public Park!

New Racist Accusations to Discredit Refugees

One of the accounts on Twitter posted a video clip of a group of girls and children with two geese in a park in the Bahçeşehir district of Istanbul, and said that they stole them to cook them.

Umit Ozdag interacted and wrote a new tweet in which he accused the refugees and said that it is normal for them to do so, and that coexistence and integration with them is not possible.

While the police issued a statement denying the news, they said that the two geese belonged to the Syrians, and they were the ones who brought them with them and did not take them from the garden, as Umit Ozdag claimed. The police added the following statement:

“They wanted to leave the geese that belonged to them to the pond, and when the officials of the pond wouldn’t let them, they took the geese back.”

While a number of Turkish activists expressed their dismay at the rhetoric of incitement and hate that some politicians in the opposition use, which target refugees, and cause great damage to peace and societal security.
