The head of the opposition IYI party asks for a mandate to agree with Assad and forcibly return refugees to Syria
The head of the opposition IYI party, Meral Aksener, asked the government for a mandate to take Syrians back to Syria. Aksener said, “As the head of the iyi party, give me this mission, I will go to Syria and meet Assad and those with him. Let’s shake Assad’s hand and send Syrians from our country”
IYI party chair Meral Aksener attended the meeting of her party’s parliamentary group and delivered a speech criticizing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the refugee crisis in Turkey.
Recalling that she had called Erdogan at 219 saying that the immigration issue had deteriorated, Aksener said:
“I made an offer to Erdogan. You have a teenage temper, you can’t get over this anger, but Turkey will not be good. The place, the demographics will change, the economy is in trouble. When you turn From being a friend to an extreme hostility, it’s hard to take a step. This is the psychology of the job. As the leader of the iyi party, give me this mission, I’ll go to Syria, and I’ll meet Assad and those with him. Let’s shake Assad’s hand and send Syrians from our country”
IYI party leader Akşener has criticized the housing support packages announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Aksner pointed out that the aid led to higher prices instead of helping the citizens. Aksner also called for restrictions on the sale of housing to foreigners.
