In the series of consecutive racist attacks against Syrian refugees in Turkey, a group of Syrian youths were subjected to a new attack by a group of Turkish racists, who impersonated the police and robbed their home in Istanbul.
Ayham Al-Hassan, one of the young men who was subjected to the racist attack, told Orient Net the details of the incident that took place yesterday, Friday, in their home in Bagcilar neighborhood in Istanbul.
Al-Hassan said that a group of Turks, about 10 people, rang the bell of their house (a youth housing) late at night, claiming that they were members of the Turkish police, which frightened the Syrian youth living in the house and prompted them to open the door immediately.
He continued: “However, one of Hassan’s friends was surprised that the young men were not members of the police, and when he asked them to leave and wanted to expel them, they stormed the house and threatened them with death, while one of the attackers stabbed a Syrian youth with a knife he was holding in his hand”.
According to Al-Hassan, the five Syrians in the residence, when they saw the sight of blood after their friend was stabbed and threatened with death by Turkish youths if they resisted, remained silent, especially since one of the gang members was carrying a gun.
After that, the gang searched the house and searched us, and they stole all our mobile phones and money, estimating the total thefts at about $2,500.
Al-Hassan suggested that the motives of the incident appear to be racist, as their house was specifically targeted among the rest of the houses in the neighborhood, expressing his shock at the confidence of the gang members, as they stayed inside the house for a period of time and ate some food and soft drinks that were inside the refrigerator of the house.
Al-Hassan indicated that his injured friend then went to the hospital to receive treatment, while some of them went to the police station and filed a complaint against the racist aggressors, pointing out that there are young men who refused to file a complaint against the aggressors for fear of being deported because they have documents belonging to other states outside Istanbul.
A few days ago, a Turkish newspaper reported that a Syrian jeweler, who holds Turkish citizenship and works regularly in the country, was shot in the feet earlier, after a provocative visit made to him by the racist opponent of Syrian refugees, “Umit Ozdag”.
It is noteworthy that in the recent period, many opposition parties and the media have sought to broadcast false news and information about the Syrians, especially by the racist opponent “Umit Ozdag”, which caused tragic accidents and some refugees were beaten and stabbed, as happened with the murdered Syrian youth (Faris Al-Ali) few days ago.
