Turkey commemorates the International Migrants Day in the presence of official figures
The event aims to ensure the security and safety of migrants and refugees in Turkey
On Saturday, the Turkish government commemorated the International Migrants Day in Istanbul through cultural events and an official presence represented by Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu, Director of the General Department of Immigration and Passports in Istanbul, Bayram Yalnuso, a number of legal persons in the state, and representatives of the European Union and the United Nations.
The event included many lyrical and artistic performances, performed by a group of foreign artists residing in Turkey, as well as a group of speeches delivered by some of the attendees to highlight the most important problems facing immigrants in Turkey and the world. The presenter of the event, Ali Tinaz, said that the event was organized by the Immigration Department in Istanbul, and it received people who came from the four continents on the face of the earth to Turkey. Tenaz added that the event aims to “ensure the security and safety of migrants and refugees in Turkey, and seeks to integrate them with Turkish society,” noting that the Turkish Immigration Department pays special attention to “this international day.” He said, “We can say – given the presence of immigrants in Turkey of every race and every color – that this diversity did not exist during the era of the Ottoman Empire,” noting that the Immigration Department is constantly working to improve the lives of immigrants in the country.
It is noteworthy that the United Nations General Assembly declared on December 4, 2000, the designation of December 18 of each year as an “International Migrants Day” to urge the countries of the world to improve their living conditions and integrate them into local societies, after taking into account the numbers large number of immigrants in the world.
