The Turkish website indicated that the workers who work in the school bag manufacturing workshops in Istanbul are mostly Syrian refugees, and after their return to their countries, production cannot continue because there are no workers who do these Occupation.

According to many traders: Making school bags is a very hard industry and requires a lot of labor, and the Syrian refugees used to work in it, but they have left now, stressing that Turkish workers do not want to do this profession, and that there is a great demand for bags, but unfortunately “there is work and there are no workers So there was a production crisis in school bags this year.

The Turkish website indicated that although colorful school supplies took their place on the shelves of stationery and bags in stores, markets and websites a few days before the opening of schools, a crisis began in the production of school bags, which are among the most important needs of students.

He pointed out that merchants have complained this year about the lack of fabric for the manufacture of school bags due to the constant rise in the price of the dollar, explaining that the main problem in the industry is the inability to find workers who can manufacture the bags, and that there is a significant drop in production.

Production stopped due to lack of workers

“kocaeli koz” added that the marketers and operators of selling bags in Izmit announced the halt of production due to the lack of Turkish workers to work in the workshops where school bags are produced, due to the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, as according to some traders in the market, the largest share of the produced bags, although Small destined for export and there is a production crisis in the domestic market.

“The price of bags is rising”

On the other hand, two bag dealers (Atmar Janbazlar and Doğuz Yalar), who have been selling school bags at their grandfather’s place of work for 55 years in Izmit, said: The prices of bags in hand have risen due to the lack of workers to work in this sector, and there is a labor crisis in the industry, as what was the price 50 liras last year became 200, and the price of a good bag reached 3,000 liras.

They added that almost all of the workers in the workshop were Syrian refugees, and when they left, production stopped and as long as the workers’ crisis did not end, there would be no bags or affordable products in the market.

After sending the Syrians, the worker cannot be found

As for the merchant, “Harun”, he confirmed that there is a labor crisis in the sector due to the unwillingness of Turkish workers to work in good jobs, and pointed to the halt in the production of school bags for this reason, and said: “The workers working in the workshop were Syrians and were sent back to their countries, and this time there are no Workers working in such jobs in Turkey, do not like to work in these jobs, And when no one comes to work, bags are produced less, there is work now and there is demand, but there are no workers to work.”
