Racism Against Syrians Only!
Double standards
The Turkish newspaper “Yeni Akd” criticized the double standards in dealing with Syrian refugees residing in Turkey and the exploitation of any behavior they take to spread hate speech against them by Turkish racists under the pretext of fear for the country’s interest, while the same racists do not show any reaction to more horrible behavior It is carried out by other foreigners in Turkey.
The newspaper highlighted a video clip that circulated during the past two days, documenting that two tourists relieved themselves on the side of the road in front of passers-by in the Alanya region of Antalya, without showing any respect for public morals and Turkish laws.
The newspaper asked, under the headline, “If these women were Syrians, everyone would have objected” to the reason for not showing any reaction to the immoral behavior they brought, especially since the sight of the two tourists who were in a state of drunkenness is disgusting.
Anti-Syrian Rhetoric in Turkey
The rhetoric hostile to the presence of Syrian refugees in Turkey has escalated during the last period due to the incitement of the Turkish opposition parties against them, which use the refugee paper, whose number has reached more than 3,750,000 Syrian refugees registered under the “temporary protection clause”, to pressure the government ahead of the planned presidential elections Next year.
The extremist head of the Zefer Party, Umit Ozdag, even called for laying mines on the border with Syria to prevent the crossing of refugees, and he himself went to the state of Hatay for that, but the governor prevented him and issued a decision to prevent him from entering the state.
It is noteworthy that the opposition “Zefar Party” and its leader have recently increased their aggressive behavior towards the Syrian refugees and incited them by producing films that depict them as occupiers of the country, such as the movie (The Silent Invasion), or through a campaign to collect 100,000 signatures in order to expel them, or by broadcasting leaflets calling on Turkish citizens to Hating and inciting refugees.
Ozdag had claimed that Afghan refugees had raped a Syrian girl in the Esenlar area, but the incident turned out to be false, which prompted the mayor of the neighborhood to issue a statement in which he lied Ozdag’s allegations, and called for caution in publishing and believing news aimed at disturbing public order.
