Racist Statements in Turkey Will Only Lead to Destruction

The “United Against Sectarian fanaticism” organization in Turkey issued a statement, saying that it “watches with great concern the increase in political statements of a racist nature issued by some representatives of Turkish parties and personalities, which clearly insist on using the refugee card in a provocative manner, for known reasons, taking advantage of economic conditions.” Turkey and the whole region are going through as a result of several reasons.

The organization explained that “the presence of more than 3 million Syrians in Turkey was not a voluntary choice for them, but rather they were forced to leave their country to escape the brutal practices of the Assad regime for more than ten years.”

The organization stressed that “these negative values ​​promoted by some, even if they provide them with some immediate political gains at the near level, their damages will be broader and deeper, and their repercussions will be clearer in the future.”

Noting that it “encourages some to transgress the law, raises fears among the masses of refugees, and reinforces a state of mistrust and insecurity, which all Turks and Syrians must act against.”
