Syrian Civil Organizations: 80% of Syrian Refugees in Turkey want to Return to Their Country

The Executive Director of the Syrian Civil Society Organizations Forum, Muhammad Akta’, revealed that 80% of Syrians in Turkey wish to return to their country.

This information came in a joint statement published on Tuesday, entitled “The voluntary and dignified return of refugees is a Syrian demand,” signed by more than 200 Syrian associations and civil society organizations, including the “Civil Society Organizations Forum,” the Women’s Support Organization, the Syrian Networks Association, and the Ataa Association for Humanitarian Relief and others.

The Syrian civil society organizations held a meeting in Istanbul with the participation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Civil Society Organizations Forum Khaled Al-Issa, the Executive Director of the Syrian Civil Society Organizations Forum, Muhammad Akta, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Support Organization Jumana Habra, the President of the Syrian Networks Association Ashraf Muslim, and the Public Relations Coordinator of the Association Ataa for Humanitarian Relief Saleh Okidi.

In a statement to Anadolu Agency after the meeting, Akta’ explained that some negative news about the Syrians, which is reflected on the Turkish street, aims to disturb the peace of the meeting, stressing that “the allegations about the end of the war in Syria and the issuance of a general amnesty and that the country is safe do not reflect the truth.”

Aktaa refuted the allegations about the Syrians abandoning their country and lands and their unwillingness to return to their homeland, indicating that the studies they conducted indicated that 80 percent of Syrians want to return to their country.
